Arigato, Japonia! 45. Hoo-do, Altarul Phoenixului din Uji / Arigato, Japan! 45. Byodo-in, Ujii

Byodo-in was founded by Yorimichi Fujiwara, in 1052, by transforming a rural villa of his father. On 1053 the Hoodo-in (Phoenix Pavilion) was added. During the Edo era the greatest part of the temple perished in flames, only the pavilion remained. Today it is protected by UNESCO and is a great example of the Edo period style. In interior, you may see the statue of Amithaba, and  the rest of walls paintings.

The temple can be visited only as a tour, organised at every 20 minutes. Every tour has 50 people. The explanations are offered in Japanese only. At request, you may receive an English text but, unfortunately, I did not know.

The structure mirrors in the Ajiike Pond. The whole park sorrounding Byodo-in is exquisite.

Templul Byodo-in a aparut, in 1052, prin transformarea dintr-o vila de familie a clanului Fujiwara. In 1053 acestuia i s-a adaugat pavilionul Hoo-do (sau al pasarilor Phoenix). In timpul erei Edo templul a pierit in flacarile unui incendiu, tot ceea ce a mai ramas fiind acest pavilion, intrat in patrimoniul UNESCO. Explicatiile se dau doar in limba japoneza.

Intreaga cladire se oglindeste in apele iazuluiAjiike.
