Traveler Between Roads

Till now I visited 42 countries. I choosed to go in some, I went because of my work in others. I was only once in some, I went back again in others. Is it much? Is it less? It depends. If I am thinking at the times we lived here, in Romania, it is much in comparison with many of my piers. Younger people, interested in travel, who started to travel after the Revolution have already visited a lot of countries. Good for them! I wish I would be much younger, so that I could still visit a lot of countries because to travel is my great passion. But still, I am thankful that I managed to see so much. I have never thought, in my younger years, that one day I will fulfill my dreams. And that day has come. And I may travel free in Europe, without visas or passport. I may go to most countries without visas. I do not need to stay hours and days at the doors of the embassies to get the right to travel! Only somebody who lived in a communist country like my can understand what this means!

The places were I have been are not simple country names on my list, they are spaces in which my soul has been free like a hawk (hence my nickname) who learns to fly. In the end not the number of visited countries is what counts, but the fact that every place, every individual I met left a drop of warmness in my heart and a big light on my retina. I do not regret any of my travel, I only regret the travels I didn’t make! There is no place, country or town on the planet where a traveler has nothing to see or to learn. You must only keep your eyes wide open and have a heart prepared to understand.
