Topkapi Palace was built by Mehmet II as a personal residence, between 1459-1465. Over 4 censturies this was the site fron were the mighty sultans ruled the inperium. On 1853, Abdul Medjid moved to Dolmabahce Palace. This site became a museum since 1924.
Beside the buildings from four huge courtyards, you may admire here different collections gahtered by the sultans.
O multime de fantani racoresc aerul in palat.

Sorry to respond so late Traveling Hawk, but every day I try to take a few blogs. I recently had quite a lot of work.
On your second picture is a building very similar to one of the buildings in my city “The Drommedaris”. Prachtgie photos let you see again host of different buildings and collections.
Kind regards, Helma
Beautiful places, great pictures!
I love all of the tile work.
Excellent Islamic features in this Old and Historic city!
No problem, take your time, Helma!
Thank you, VP!
Am citit postarea, Liliana:) Si eu am fost tot cu un grup organizat in aceasta excursie in Turcia, dyupa care m-am lecuit pentru mai multa vreme…Problema era ca nu fusesem niciodata in Turcia si excursia respectiva, combinata cu un sejur de o saptamana, acoperea multe locuri.
Thanks a lot, Randy!
Thank you, Wong, you are right. The history of Byzant and that of Constantinopol (former name of the city) intermingle here.
