Drumul in Serbia este destul de bun, cu restrictiile de viteza cunoscute celor care merg mai des pe acolo: 50 km/ora in localitati si chiar 40 km/ora in dreptul scolilor si 80 km/ora in afara localitatilor.
Intram in interiorul transformat in parc.
In urmatoarea postare va povestesc si va arat cetatea Golubac si malul Dunarii.
The Smederevo Fortress
I thought that, may be, you need a break from my Korean stories and I want to show you were I was last Sunday. We made a 700 km round trip in Serbia, to see the Golubac castle. On our way we stopped to visit the Smederevo Fortress and this is all about today.
Our itinerary was: Timisoara-Vrset-Pancevo-Smederevo-Kovin-Pozarevac-Veliko Gradiste-Majdanpek-Pozarevac-Pancevo-Timisoara. I drove from 7.30 in the morning till 12.30 in the night, making 4 stops: at Smederevo fortress, at an international fishing contest, at Golubac castle and at a nice restaurant on the Danube coast.
The Smederevo castle has been built between 1428-1430 by the Serbian ruler (“despot”) Djuradj Brankovic. It was part of a whole chain of fortresses along the Danube, to the Iron Gates:
Novi Sad (I told you about Petrovaradin fortress here http://travelinghawk.blogspot.com/2010/11/fortareata-petrovaradin-petrovaradin.html), Golubac, Lepenski Vir and Viminacium.
We walked first outside the walls and then went inside, where it is a public park. After few photos we had to go, because the itinerary was long enough. In the next post I’ll tell/show you the ruins of the Golubac Castle and the Danube coast.
Wow…..thats again a lovely place for photographers…..good work !
greetings, Joop
Thank you, Joop Zand! The Golubac Castle is even nicer!
What a great trip and terrific photos again! I haven’t been there for ages!
have a nice week ahead:)
Have you been to Serbia before, Joo?
Now that would be something I would love to see.
I see graffiti are common even there. Love the picture of the fisherman.
It’s an interesting trip, Randy!
They are, everywhere in the world, VP.
WOW!!! If those walls could talk, I will listen to them attentively. I love that place just by looking at your photographs. My favorites are the photos of the boats and the man fishing.
Long drive but surely worth it, my friend. WOW!!!
Exactly my opinion too, Rizalenio. Even if at the beginning we intended to return from the Golubac castle, we went further on the Danube coast and this prolonged the driving. But it was a nice day!
Great castle!!!
Many thanks for so interesting trip!!!
Beautiful photos!!!
Many greetings
Thank you for your comment, Magda!
Amazing historical monument well preserved! Excellent pictures.
Thank you, Phivos, for your visit and comment!
Wow, amazing castle, walls and history. Nice varied set of photos again. The Danube seems to go everywhere, I saw it once in Budapest !
Yes, it flows in Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania too, J_on_tour! In Romania the Danube forms a delta.
What an impressive fortress. I love the massive old stone works and the views from the top are wonderful.
Thank you, Doug! I think the next one is even more impressive, and the Danube landscape adds to the charm of the place.
80km/h? Ups…
