The Bauhinia Hotel Central, Hong Kong
copacul–orhidee, inflorit
Pozitia foarte centrala a hotelului ne-a plasat intr-o zona de zgarie nori, intens circulata pana tarziu in noapte.

Piata, aflata in Portul Victoria, ofera o panorama larga spre zgarie norii din Kowloon.

A Different China: Hong Kong 3. Our Hotel And the Flower of Bauhinia
Which is the connection between our hotel and a flower? “Bauhinia” is the name of the flower of a tree, Bauhinia blakeana or the orchid-tree. It was discovered by a Catholic missionary in 1880. The tree originates in HK. It grows between 6-12 m height, and the blooming period is between November and March. Bauhinia is the image of HK. It is on coins and on the HK flag. There is a square called Golden Bauhinia Square, so we went to see it.
Our 3 stars hotel was in a very central and crowded neighborhood. It was near the subway, near the tram for the Peak, near the Macao Pier. The name of the hotel is The Bauhinia Hotel Central. We had all the necessary comfort there, internet access, and a complementary breakfast.
The way from the subway (Wan Chai station, exit A5, MTR Central Line) to the square goes through the main lobby of the Central Plaza Hotel, the third highest building in HK (78 floors, 374 m height).
The statue of the Bauhinia flower was a present of the Central Government of the Popular Republic of China, on occasion of handover of HK toward China, in 1997. Made of bronze and placated with gold leaves, it stays on a red Sichuan granite pedestal, having a height of 6 m. Hundreds of Chinese tourists are going there to take photos.
A nice view over the Victoria Harbour, toward Kowloon, is another attraction of the area.
The statue stands in front of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, a fine building, erected in 1988. I spotted the building at the Symphony of Lights, and when I was at the Victoria Peak too.
An almost magic place and a great destination for a trip.
Thanks, V.P.! You are right. There will be benches too, I thought about it:)

Hallo Travaling Hawk 🙂
Wow … a whole series of colorful Traveling Hawk. Indeed many skyscrapers and lots of traffic. In traditional Chinese medicine pharmacies I have intrested because Chinese herbs are always popular.
And the Bauhinia blakeana really high wroden as you say! Up to 12 metere!! What a height say ~. Very nice report again with lots of color 🙂
I’m glad you enjoyed, Helma! I think too that traditional Chinese medicine is good.
My dear friend
I got stumped … So beautiful! and your photos are excellent!
The hotel beautiful, clean, both skyscrapers, lights, like a fairy tale!
many kisses
Thank you, Magda dear, for your enthusiasm!
I wish to show some appreciation to this wretir for bailing me out of this instance. After searching through the world wide web and finding concepts which are not pleasant, I was thinking my entire life was done. Being alive devoid of the answers to the problems you have fixed by means of your guideline is a crucial case, as well as the kind which might have negatively affected my entire career if I hadn’t noticed the blog. Your understanding and kindness in handling almost everything was helpful. I’m not sure what I would’ve done if I hadn’t come across such a thing like this. I am able to at this moment look ahead to my future. Thanks a lot so much for the specialized and sensible guide. I will not hesitate to suggest the blog to any individual who will need guide about this area.
Thanks!
Hong Kong must be so impressive in person. The Asian mega cities seem to become more amazing with each passing year! There is such wealth and prosperity to build such places as these!
Well, at least what I (or other tourists) have seen, Doug. I’m sure there are also places not so great, but usually we do not have time enough to get a glimpse of them too.
i absolutely miss HongKong. your photos bring back wonderful memories of my trip. Thank you.
I’m glad you like my photos, Life Ramblings! Thanks!
